ACTIVITIES FOR HOME USE
Hector’s World™ activities and resources are designed to help younger children learn about online safety. These Hector’s World resources are free and are intended to maximise the cybersafety learning from the Hector’s World episodes.
Many of these resources are in PDF format – Click here to download a free Adobe PDF reader.
The Hector’s World Safety Button™ - A child-activated safety tool which children can use if something on-screen upsets or worries them. Click here to find out more.
Hector’s World Episodes - The episodes are available to view in the Episodes Theatre in Silicon Deep East in www.hectorsworld.com. Parent Discussion Points are also available to guide discussion with your child about the content of the episodes.
Character Hats – In the first set of episodes, an important skill we reinforce is the selection of an online nickname. A good activity for classrooms or at home would be selecting a nickname which is fun for the child but which offers no identifying information. Children may get some ideas from our character nicknames ‘Supercrab’, ‘Trueblue’, ‘Finstar’ etc. which are printed on the hats. (Note: Directions for hat construction are on page two of the below PDF downloads.)
Song Sheets & Music Files – You can download black and white or full colour versions of the song sheets for use with the Hector’s World songs.
Colour-in Story Books – you can download early reader or standard versions for colouring-in and reading. (Also found in the Library in Silicon Deep in www.hectorsworld.com )
